The 'archived' messages are moved to a dedicated folder (or hierarchy of folders) within the Thunderbird profile. Beginning with version 3.x, Thunderbird has built-in support for archiving e-mail. When Thunderbird opens, click Tools, then Account Settings from the menu bar. None of the extensions mentioned in this article support other applications, but the other solutions may work with the Mozilla Suite or SeaMonkey.
